TikTok offers plenty of ways to understand how people interact with an account, but one feature can be surprisingly difficult to find. Profile View History allows eligible users to see certain accounts that recently visited their TikTok profile. The problem is that the option does not appear for everyone. Some users open their privacy settings expecting to find Profile Views, only to discover that the feature is completely missing. What Is TikTok Profile View History?

The feature covers activity from the previous 30 days. If another eligible TikTok user has the setting turned on and visits a profile, that visit may appear in the Profile Views section. There is also a privacy tradeoff. Turning the feature on means other eligible users who have enabled Profile View History can see when their profiles have been visited as well. TikTok currently states that users must be at least 16 years old and have fewer than 5,000 followers to access Profile View History.

 

Why Can't I Turn On Profile Views on TikTok?

Several factors can explain why the Profile View History option is unavailable. Before assuming there is a technical problem with TikTok, it is worth checking whether the account meets the platform's requirements.

The Account Owner Is Under 16

Age is one of TikTok's main restrictions for this feature. Profile View History is only available to users who are at least 16 years old. If the date of birth associated with an account indicates that the user is younger than 16, the Profile Views setting will not be available. Changing other privacy options or reinstalling TikTok will not bypass this restriction.

The Account Has 5,000 Followers or More

Follower count is another important eligibility requirement. TikTok limits Profile View History to accounts with fewer than 5,000 followers. Once an account reaches or passes that threshold, the option may no longer be accessible. This means that a creator who previously had Profile View History could eventually lose access as the account grows.

Profile View History Has Never Been Enabled

Profile View History is not necessarily active automatically. TikTok states that the feature is turned off by default, which means eligible users may need to activate it manually before they can see qualifying profile visits. The setting can generally be found through TikTok's privacy controls.

TikTok Is Out of Date

Running an older version of TikTok can occasionally cause features or menu options to display incorrectly. Social media apps are frequently updated, and the location or appearance of certain settings can change after an update. How to Turn On TikTok Profile View History

For eligible accounts, Profile View History can be enabled through TikTok's privacy settings. Open TikTok and follow these steps:

  1. Tap Profile at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Open the Menu button in the upper area of the profile.
  3. Select Settings and privacy.
  4. Open Privacy.
  5. Choose Profile views.
  6. Turn on Profile view history.

TikTok also allows some users to access the setting through the Profile Views button on their profile or through related activity notifications in the Inbox. If the Profile Views option does not appear anywhere, checking the account's age and follower count should be the next step.

 

Does Turning Off Profile Views Make Visits Private?

Turning Profile View History off changes visibility in both directions. When the setting is disabled, an account cannot use the feature to see who has viewed its profile. At the same time, other users will not see that account listed through Profile View History when their profiles are visited. This reciprocal design is an important part of how TikTok handles the feature. Users essentially choose between participating in profile-view sharing or keeping that activity private.
